Wire rope is composed of strands and core. The strand is composed of a steel wire and a core, which may be a steel wire or a fiber core.

1. Steel wire

The steel wire rope plays the role of bearing load, and its performance is mainly determined by the steel wire. Steel wire is a round (or shaped) wire made of carbon steel or alloy steel by cold drawing or cold rolling. It has high strength and toughness, and the surface treatment of steel wire is carried out according to different environmental conditions.

2. Cord core

Rope core is divided into: fiber core and metal core

2.1 fiber core

It is used to increase the elasticity and toughness of the steel wire rope, lubricate the steel wire, reduce friction and improve the service life. Commonly used rope core organic fiber (such as hemp, cotton), synthetic fiber, asbestos core (high temperature conditions) or soft metal materials.

2.2 metal core

It can increase the tensile strength of the wire rope, anti-extrusion, impact resistance, high temperature resistance and other properties.
